transfer but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - Central Texas baccalaureate degree in Education -
Elementary.
Note: Texas A&M University - Central Texas accepts a maximum of 68 college-level hours in transfer towards a
baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their
degrees.

Special Admission Requirements for Texas A&M University - Central Texas
Texas - Education
Students are encouraged to speak with an Academic Advisor prior to Block I for a student educational plan. Students must
meet with an Academic Advisor prior to enrollment into Block I courses.
Acceptance into the BS in Education Major:
Students will be accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Education major when they are accepted into the university and
meet application criteria required to enroll in Block I courses. Criteria include the completion of the majority of the lower 60
hours required in the BS in Education degree plan. Specifically, students should have completed four ENGL courses, college
algebra, US History I and II, Texas and Federal Government, two of the three science courses with labs, a psychology course,
and MATH 1350.
Admittance into the Educator Preparation Program:
After successful completion of all Block I classes (EDUC 3420, EDUC 3430, SPED 3361, and *READ 3310), students will
apply to be admitted into the Educator Preparation Program (EPP).
*BS in Education 4-8 Mathematics do not take READ 3310.
Entry Requirements needed in application to be admitted into the EPP include:
Complete an application packet.
Complete all Block I courses.
Have a minimum 2.75 grade point average (GPA) overall or in the last 60 hours to include semester where 60th
occurred.
12 credit hours of English with a grade C or better.
College Algebra with a grade C or better.
Completion of 60 credit hours towards the degree.
Completion of 15 credit hours in the certification subject area with a grade of C or better.
Content Proficiency Assessment.
Interview.

Transfer of Credit
Community college courses may not transfer into TAMUCT as upper-division courses (3000-4000 level), even though
TAMUCT may have an upper-division course with exactly the same name and description. Community college courses may
not be used to fulfill the upper-division requirement for graduation at TAMUCT. However, the course may be used as a
substitute for an upper-division course with an approved substitution form signed by the chair and dean.
Affordability
Based on 2019-2020 reported average tuition and fees, Texas A&M University-Central Texas is the second most affordable
institution in the state of Texas for full-time undergraduate students. Students are not only able to take advantage of
guaranteed tuition plans to control the cost of their education, but A&M-Central Texas's Bachelor Bonus caps tuition and

Texas Education Code § 54.014 specifies that resident undergraduate students who initially enrolled fall 1999 and later
may be subject to a higher tuition rate for attempting excessive hours at any public institution of higher education while
